Owners of 2019-2020 Dodge Journeys complained about multiple problems with the rear-view cameras. Customers complained about blurry images on the display, upside down images, completely black screens and the camera screens even flashed.
NHTSA looked at Camera guarantee claims and found the highest guarantee claims with vehicles built in 2019 and 2020. The guarantee reports were almost double the SUVs that were built in 2017 and 2018. All this happened after a new camera number was introduced.
Chrysler then opened an internal investigation into backup camera mistreats in 2019-2020 Dodge Journey and 2019-2021 RAM Promaster Vans. The decision was made to remember the vehicles after Chrysler found that a damaged back -up camera -microprocessor caused camera problems.
The automaker told owners that the back -up cameras would be replaced by updated parts, with the convincing safety regulations convincing to conduct their Dodge Journey research.
