A skin doctor has warned that forgetting to wash behind the ears can lead to eczema, annoying infections and even life -threatening sepsis.

According to Dr. Roger Kapoor, a dermatologist at the Beloit Health System in Wisconsin, is this part of the body full of caught dirt, oil and dead skin – but people rarely think to clean it.

Bacteria ‘stuck’ in the fold can migrate to open wounds, such as ear piercings or scratches in the ear, and cause dangerous infections, he added.

“I always advise people to wash the skin deliberately and specifically behind their ears to get into the folds from where the ear meets your skin,” he said Parade.

“It can always catch dirty.”

In severe cases, these infections could spread to other parts of the body and enter the bloodstream.

Although rare, this can lead to life-threatening sepsis when the body attacks its own tissues, so organs are gradually closed.

Dr. Kapoor also marked the risk of eczema, an inflammatory disorder that ensures that patients develop flaky, flaky places that are often itching and red.

The structure of oil, dirt and sweat can create a damp environment for bacteria and fungus to thrive, which can cause or worse eczema and general skin irritation.

Over time, oil structure can block pores, causing ugly spots or acne pimples.

You will probably also leave the combination of dirt behind your ear with a dirty scent.

Dr. Kapoor said that while shampoo contains ingredients to help break down oil and bacteria, they are not the best option because it washes away while rinsing.

This means that the cleaning substances have no contact with the skin for a long time.

He advised the use of a soft soap and scrubbing behind the ears with fingers to thoroughly clean the area.

The dermatologist also advised to wash the glasses regularly while resting behind the ears and can easily transfer bacteria to the skin.

It comes when a considerable part of the British says that they miss certain body parts during showers, such as wash their feet (49 percent) or toes (60 percent), a 2020 survey unveiled by Plumbworld.

One survey conducted by YouGOV in 2019, only half of the people in the British shower found every day, with one in four only chose it every two days.

Almost one in 20 British reported shower only once a week and one in 100 once a month.
