Dillon Brooks is optimistic about the withdrawal of the latest technical developments

If you tuned in to watch the underpowered Phoenix Suns outlast the Brooklyn Nets 106-102, then you know it was a physical battle that boiled over near the end of the game.

A scuffle resulting in a free bench for Phoenix (just as many assistant coaches on the field…) and no fewer than six technical fouls during the game.

Dillon Brooks believes his 15th technical will be rescinded

For those who haven’t been watching, it won’t be a surprise to hear that Dillon Brooks was one of the players who received a technical rating that puts him at 15th on the season. One more and he’ll be suspended for a game.

Not that Brooks thinks he will lead the league in that category for long, as he confidently said Duane Rankin by The Arizona Republic that he expects the technology to be destroyed.

In his eyes, the play under the basket with Egor Dёmin, in which Brooks didn’t seem to do anything at all and which led to the technical foul, contains shadows of mistakes that have already been undone this season.

It’s also fair to point out, and Brooks had plenty of thoughts, as you can see above, that referees at the time, to name a technicality, would be handing them out every night as they stopped the game every time two players got wrapped up.

Bringing that up is exactly why the technology is unlikely to be destroyed, even if he has a point. Questioning the referees in any way rarely goes well for the person doing it.

Brooks also, for better or worse, already has a reputation in the NBA, so he’s more likely to be called for fouls at these times and less likely that subsequent reviews will go his way.

To be fair, he’s already had one taken from him, which was given during a game against the Miami Heat earlier this month, but it’s unlikely he’ll be so lucky this time.

The Suns need Brooks to play with this level of aggression and intensity, especially when they are missing three starters, and running the line is just part of the Brooks experience.

They also won the game and got a monster performance from Mark Williams in the process, so it’s not like this was a low point of the season. That kind of fighting and not backing down is exactly why the Suns will make the playoffs.

But maybe it’s not the right move to confidently tell the media that a technology will be withdrawn right after a game, but if it is, we’ll happily eat our words (just no tweet…).
