At UFC 325, Diego Lopes failed in his attempt to defeat Alexander Volkanovski and become the new UFC featherweight champion. He will now have to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to capitalize on another championship opportunity, which could be a long road ahead for him.

One man Lopes has had issues with in the past is none other than Yair Rodriguez. Although Yair hasn’t competed since his victory over Patricio Pitbull last April, he always seems to be in the conversation when the best featherweights in the world are discussed.
In a recent video, Henry Cejudo explained why he would like to see Lopes and Rodriguez finally settle their feud.

Cejudo wants Lopes against Rodriguez
“After falling 0-2 short against Volkanovski, the ‘Mexilian’ will next have to fight Yair Rodriguez,” Cejudo said on his X account. “After that whole press conference thing, knowing that people jumped from both sides, I mean it’s a Mexican crime. At 145 pounds, we have Lerone Murphy versus Movsar.”
“Aljamain Sterling vs. (Youssef) Zalal is also rumored to be happening. There’s only one fight for these guys to settle it. I’m talking about that Mexican-on-Mexican crime. Let’s see who Mr. Mexico is. I love May 5, Cinco de Mayo. Who knows guys? Maybe we’re all waiting for September (Noche UFC), but that fight has to happen.”
