Last night at UFC 325, Diego Lopes had his second chance to win the UFC Featherweight Championship when he took on Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of the night. Unfortunately, he fell short again, leaving many wondering what exactly awaits him at 145 pounds.

There’s no denying that Lopes is an incredibly talented fighter, but equally, he’s clearly a step or two behind someone like Volkanovski. He’s young enough to go back to the drawing board and make the necessary adjustments, and if he can do that, there are still a lot of interesting fights on the table.
In one quick tweet After the event, Lopes had this to say to Volkanovski.
No excuses, you are “the big one” @alexvolkanovski for a reason, thanks for the fight 🤝

Lopes shows respect for Volkanovski after UFC 325
“No excuses, you are “the great” for a reason @alexvolkanovski, thanks for the fight.”
Diego understands that he was up against one of the greatest featherweights of all time, but there were definitely some things he could have changed based on what he did in the first fight. As for “The Great,” he will face Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy – depending on what the UFC wants to do.
What do you think Diego Lopes should do next in his mixed martial arts career? Will he ever become world champion and if so, will he have to switch divisions to make that happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, BJPENN Nation!
