In their third preseason match, the New Jersey Devils faced the New York Islanders in a Friday evening metropolitan matchup in UBS Arena. This marked the second time this week that the two teams met, after the Devils’ 6-2 victory On Tuesday evening.
Predictable, the Devils gave most of their starters a break, while the islanders played a mix of veterans and prospects. The most striking was that the Devils Paul Cotter, Jonas Siegenthaler and Dougie Hamilton had in the line -up, while the islanders played Mathew Barzal, Bo Horvat and Matthew Schaefer – to name just a few. The result was a 4-2 Devils victory, which surpasses their opponents 27-25.
As planned, goalkeeper Jake Allen played the first half of the game and stopped 11 of the 12 shots before Jakub Malek took over for the second half. The islanders were planning to do the same with Ilya Sorokin and Tristan Lennox, but Sorokin finally stayed in the net in the net.

The tensions were high on the way to the third, but the devils fought back and gathered to score two unanswered goals. Nathan Legare and Arseni Grityuk helped the Devils to regain a 3-1 lead. The islanders made a brave effort with a goal by Anthony Duclair, but the Devils visited the deal with an empty cleaner thanks to Angus Crookshank, in which a 4-2 victory was obtained.
The Devils will be back in action for a busy Sunday afternoon, with half of the team opposite the Washington Capitals and the rest that the senators of Ottawa play. In the meantime, the islanders will stand against the New York Rangers on Monday evening.
