Young Indian shuttler Devika Sihag secured her maiden BWF Super 300 title after Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei retired midway through the women’s singles final at the $250,000 Thailand Masters tournament on Sunday.The 20-year-old from Haryana was firmly in control at 21-8, 6-3 when world number 68 Goh – a two-time junior world champion – had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury, handing Devika the biggest title of her career.
Devika is currently ranked 63 in the world and is training under Umendra Rana at the Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru. She has also honed her skills alongside two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu under Indonesian coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama.Devika’s progress on the track has been gradual and consistent. She captured her first international crown at the Malaysia International in August 2025 and later played a key role in India’s mixed team bronze medal at the 2025 World University Games.Last season, Devika finished second at the Indonesia Masters Super 100 and reached four finals in 2024, claiming titles at the Swedish Open and Portugal International, while also finishing second at the Estonian International and the Dutch International.
