Alarm bells went off at Manchester United when news emerged that Matheus Cunha suffered an injury in training.
The Brazilian ended up missing a charity event due to the injury, and there was much speculation that he would miss the match against Everton.
Ruben Amorim will already be without Benjamin Sesko for the next month, while both Bryan Mbeumo and Amad are expected to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations in December.
With the Slovenian missing, the head coach was expected to play against a fluid front three of Cunha, Mbeumo and Mason Mount, with Joshua still not trusting Zirkzee to fill the void.
Injury details
But the ex-Wolves star’s injury derailed those plans. The Portuguese tactician cannot afford another injury in such a crucial period.
But journalist Ben Jacobs it has now emerged that it was a head injury and therefore the club did not take any risks.

“Matheus Cunha took a blow to the head in training today. Understand it’s only a minor issue but enough to keep him home from a Christmas event in Altrincham,” he wrote X (earlier Tweet).
And Nathan Salt by The Daily Mail further added that the issue remains minor and the 26-year-old is still in contention to face the Toffees on Monday.
Remains in contention for the match against Everton
“Matheus Cunha’s problem would be a blow we took in training today. It’s only a small problem so it still sounds in the mix for Everton.”

Hopefully Matheus Cunha can make the match against David Moyes’ team. They have been flying high since the former United boss joined them and are currently just three points behind Old Trafford.
Everton are expected to play with a low block at the Theater of Dreams, and Amorim will need runners to unlock their stubborn defence.
Cunha, who did not score as much as he would have liked, can upset the visitors with his sharp movement and quick feet and hopefully guide his side to victory.
