Rocky the Mountain Lion Brld back at the Denver Nuggets.
The man behind the suit, Drake Solomon, is not looking for damage to Koenke Sports & Entertainment, which owns the nuggets, for an alleged violation of legislation on disability protection.
The Colorado Sun reported This week, Solomon was diagnosed with a bone tissue disease, avascular necrosis, during the 2022-23 season, and was ultimately forced to undergo several operations, including a hip replacement procedure during the following season.
When Solomon told his supervisors about the approaching hip replacement, he claims that the team decided to keep try -outs for the mascot -“because of his register of disorders and their lack of trust in his health.”
Solomon said he quickly recovered from his hip replacement and went back to work during the 2023-24 season.
The lawsuit claims that his return to work included a ‘hostile working environment’ and the team decided to keep try -outs for the new Rocky because he ‘burned them the last time’.
Solomon was fired in August 2024, shortly after try-outs for a new Rocky, of which he says he was violating his rights under the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act.
Solomon started his career with the team in 2012 as a “Trampoline Dunk Artist.”
His father had been the original Rocky for more than 30 years and retired in 2021 when Solomon took over the performance in a private, closed-door try-out.
“It was not easy to continue with this because I love the nuggets,” said Solomon. “They have been all my life and my family. To end things like they did, it was pretty heartbreaking.”
The Nuggets won the NBA final in 2023, which eventually was one of the last seasons of Solomon as the mascot of the team.
