Delhi Teen opens fires over a small dispute, probe leads the police to Wapenfabriek in Up

A shooting incident involving a 16-year-old in the Sarai Rohilla area in Delhi led the police to discover a large illegal weapon production unit that operated from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. After a detailed investigation, the Delhi police arrested three men and grabbed a large cache of rural pistols, living cartridges and raw materials used for the production of firearms.

The probe started after a FIR was registered in the night of 11-12 August, when a woman reported that her brother was being shot while on the terrace of their house in Chuna Bhatti, Sarai Rohilla. The weapon, a land -made gun, was found on the spot. A 16-year-old who was involved in the incident was arrested the next day and revealed that he had obtained the firearm from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

After this leadership, the police team carried out raids in Aligarh and arrested an accused of whom cartridges were found.

Further probe led to the arrest of a second person in Mathura, who was found in possession of a video with the production of more than 70 firearms. Based on his disclosure, the police followed the location of an illegal weapon factory that operated in Aligarh.

During the raid on the factory on 1 September, the police found two closed rooms that were used to produce illegal firearms on a massive scale. Six assembled rural pistols, twelve unfinished pistols, six living cartridges, five empty cartridges and raw materials that are sufficient to produce more than 250 pistols were recovered.

Tools and machines used in production, including vessels, pipes, exercises, folding machines, grinding machines and other equipment, were also seized from the site.

The factory operator, 60 years old, admitted for the past 15-20 years that he had produced and sold illegal firearms and claimed to have sold more than 1,200 weapons to various people. He also revealed that he often changed the location of the factory to prevent detection and had operated the current arrangement for about a month.

The arrested individuals include a 24-year-old man who works at a petrol pump in Hathras, a 61-year-old farmer from Mathura and the 60-year-old factory operator from Aligarh. All three have been booked under relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act.

Further research is underway to verify their criminal backgrounds and to identify other persons connected to the network.
