The numbers:
Delaware Park Jockeys
Julio Hernandez and Jaime Rodriguez set the pace last week in Delaware Park, who each four winners of the house boat, while Angel Cruz corresponded to four of herself. Xavier Perez was perfect with a few mounts and Gabriel Maldonado, Jorge Gonzalez Sanchez, Martin Chuan and Jose Batista each broke two victories. Another dozen riders added one victory each, making it 19 Jocks with at least one win a week …
Before the meeting, Rodriguez is still comfortable on top with 51 victories, although Hernandez (43) and Chuan (39) continue to chase. In terms of “added victories” – a metric that measures how many more races a rider has won than the chance of his mounts would have predicted – Chuan leads all riders with 11.21. Batista (7.91), Hernandez (5.37), Maldonado (4.53) and Jorge Ruiz (4.50) also stand out, all above +4.0. The full range of all riders runs from +11.21 to -9.44. Based on efficiency, the record of 10-from-26 from Ruiz translates into a measurement-high 4.33 added victories per 25 starts, just for Jean Briceno (4.04)...
Ruiz also has the advantage in the deserved percentage of the wallet, whereby his mounts collect more than 37% of the available prize money. His closest pursuers are Samuel Marin and Paco Lopez, both above 28%. Among the busier riders, Batista (19.58%), Julio Hernandez (19%) and Rodriguez (18.43%) are tops in bag share …
