Taylor Fritz returns to the Nitto ATP Finals one year after reaching the championship match during the season finale.
The American qualified for the year-end championships on Wednesday when Lorenzo Musetti fell during the Rolex Paris Masters. Fritz joins Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic in the field.
Last year, Fritz defeated former champions Daniil Medvedev and Zverev on his way to the final before Sinner defeated him for the trophy. This will be the 27-year-old’s third appearance in the Nitto ATP Finals, having advanced through round-robin action in his first two appearances.
Fritz made a good start to his season in the United Cup, where he led the United States to the trophy, and he hasn’t looked back. The ten-time ATP Tour title winner lifted trophies in Stuttgart at Eastbourme, making this the fourth year in a row in which he has claimed multiple titles.
Fritz also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time and later reached the Tokyo final. Other notable results include his semi-finals in Miami and Toronto.
There are three singles spots left for the Nitto ATP Finals, which will take place from November 9 to 16 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin. Ben Shelton is currently sixth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, with Alex de Minaur seventh and Musetti eighth. Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is in ninth place, is 390 points behind Musetti.
