Veteran Quarterback Trevor Harris returns to action and the Saskatchewan Roughewan want to remain unbeaten when they organize the Calgary Stampeders in Regina on Friday evening.
Harris sustained a concussion in a win of week 3 at the Argonauts in Toronto. The Roughriders won a victory behind Backup Jake Maier and then had a good soon last week.
Saskatchewan (4-0) leads the West Division while Calgary (3-1) is in second place with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
“We are enthusiastic about the challenge,” Harris told reporters of looking at the Stampeders. “They bring us a big challenge, but we think we also bring a big challenge for them.”
Harris, 39, knew that something was not good during the 39-32 victory over the Argos on 20 June, but did not say it after the competition coaches or trainers.
“I was a bit blurry, but I felt good enough to perform,” said Harris. “I did not approve what I did to stay there, but it is not a fault of the team, not a fault of the documents. I have not reported anything.”
This season Harris completes 72.5 percent of his passes for 806 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Saskatchewan’s AJ Ouellette leads the CFL with 347 Hasten Recruitment. He is on average 6.2 yards per Carry and has rushed for three scores.
Calgary also has a thriving runner in Dedrick Mills, who is second with 311 Yards and hurried for a competition-high-five touchdowns.
Stampeders Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw his first two TouchDown passes of the season in last week’s 37-16 routes of visiting Winnipeg. He has passed 1,025 meters and has been intercepted three times.
Adams is aware that he must be in top form with Saskatchewan who leads the CFL in hasty defense with 66.5 meters per match.
“This is a battle for first place, so it means a lot,” said Adams during the availability of media. “They play at home, so they are going to take their best game with them.”
Defensive RUG Damon Webb (30 Yards) and Linebacker Derrick Moncrief (70) have given back interceptions for touchdowns to spark Calgary against Winnipeg.
In general, Calgary has three intercept returns for scores. Adrian Greene also ran the trick against Toronto in week 2.
“We have kept our heads low, go to work every day and the results are now displayed,” Webb told reporters.
Calgary flourished on the road in the series and won the last five visits to Regina and 10 of the last 11. The victory of the Roughriders during the piece came in 2018.
