The Octagon will probably come to the White House next year.
President Donald Trump is planning to keep the UFC a fight card on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in 2026 as part of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The Republican President, who is close to UFC President Dana White, made the announcement on Thursday during an appearance on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in des Moines.
Trump said: “Does anyone look at UFC? The Great Dana White? We are going to have a UFC fight. We are going to have a UFC fight – think of this – on the White House site. We have a lot of land there.
“We are going to build a little – we are not, Dana is going to do it. Dana is great, unique – will be UFC fight, championship fight, full fight, such as 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we will do that as part of ‘250’.”
Trump attended countless UFC events, including UFC 314 in Miami in April, when he sat with White.
On the last night of the Republican National Convention of 2024, White made the introduction when the once and future president accepted the nomination of his party.
Trump said on Thursday: “Each of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites will have special events in honor of ‘America250’.”
