New York Mets Outfielder Juan Soto may try to prove a point this week after he was bypassed for selection to the MLB All-Star game next week.

“He is an all-star for us,” said Mets-manager Carlos Mendoza.

He gets another chance to show his talents on Wednesday evening when the mets meet the host Baltimore Orioles for the second game of a three-game series.

The METS won five of the six games after the 7-6, 10-inn, Comeback victory on Tuesday evening in the series opener. Soto had three hits, including the go-ahead single in the 10th.

It was another game with late game production for the Mets.

“Before you know it, we are immediately back in the game,” said Mendoza. “Offensing, one night where the first four or five innings we were pretty quiet, I thought we made some good adjustments and of course the perches got better.”

This season, the Orioles tried to get a winning streak of four games for the second time. That contributed to the frustration of seeing a four-run lead lets disappear into the game.

“It sticks, there is no doubt,” said Baltimore Interim manager Tony Mansolino. ‘I think you are constantly going back to your preparation, your process. Have we done everything well? Did we get the boys in the right places? I feel we were doing. It just wasn’t our night. “

It was another example of the inability of the Orioles to keep their momentum this season.

“I think there have been games in recent weeks that we should probably have won,” said Baltimore first Honkman Ryan O’Hearn. “(Tuesday evening) now feels like one of them, certainly disappointing.”

The Mets have received widespread contributions, with Mendoza mentioning others who may earn for the showcase in the middle of the summer. That includes outfielder Brandon Nimmo, whose 53 RBIs are one more than Soto.

“(Nimmo has been locked up in the past month,” said Mendoza. “Talking about All-Stars, he deserves to be in the conversation.”

In the meantime, the orioles of what they get from Infrielder Jackson Holliday, who again homely homely.

“He is just a talented child,” said Mansolino. “I don’t think he is trying to get home above it to the opposite field. I think he just has a really good approach.”

Left-hand trade David Peterson (6-4, 3.18 ERA) is planned to start for the Mets, who lost three consecutive games in his start to last Thursday’s 3-2 victory over the Brewers. He held Milwaukee on two points (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings.

This marks the fifth road order in a seven-out piece for Peterson. After winning the victory in his seasonal debut in Miami, the Mets went 0-7 in road races in which Peterson started.

In four career matchups at the Orioles he is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA over 16 2/3 innings.

Baltimore turns to right-handed Tomoyuki Sugano (6-5, 4.44 ERA), who comes a dismissal of a week. He was for six runs and a season-high 10 hits in the loss of 6-0 last Wednesday in Texas.

During that period, Sugano surrendered at least one home run in four consecutive games and seven total long balls.
