Net center Day’Ron Sharpe left Sunday’s game with left hamstring tightness.
The Nets offered no timeline or clarity on the severity of the injury.
“No, there has been no testing. It’s just tightness. So we will do our evaluation and do everything we have to do,” head coach Jordi Fernández said. “So we’ll see. But he played extremely hard.”
Sharpe had 10 points and six rebounds in 12:11 against the Knicks.
He played the final three minutes of the third quarter and did not return for the fourth.
“I find it difficult to say [when it happened]Fernandez said. “I know he fought and played really hard. So hopefully it’s nothing. We’ll see what happens.”
Egor Dëmin had 10 points and four rebounds, but three turnovers.
“He’s done a good job. Still, it’s important to take care of the ball and read where the paint is, where the ball should be. That’s going to get better. Still defensively, we’re going to need more and more, not just from him but from everyone else,” Fernández said. But overall, I’ve gained 25 minutes of experience and I’ve come to understand more and more what it’s like to play against a team like this.”
Drake Powell had 15 points, went 3-for-3 from deep and even celebrated for Spike Lee, giving some trash talk back to the Knicks superfan.
“Yes, yes, he was [talking]Powell said. “But you know me, I’ll never be the first to talk to anyone. But when you talk to me, he says, you know, over the course of the game, it is what it is.
First-round rookie Ben Saraf, Danny Wolf and Nolan Traore all played in the G-League rout of Long Island.
Wolf had a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, joining Sharpe and Noah Clowney as the only Nets with consecutive double-doubles to start their G-League careers.
Saraf had 15 points in 25 minutes off the bench, while Traore scored 15.
“We are very connected with how we want to do things. I want to challenge and develop these guys. There is not just one way. There are different ways we can do it,” Fernández said. “The most important thing is that they use those minutes, and we will decide from there [where] all [play].”
