Spa & Wellness at Hotel Kaiserblick – relaxation with an alpine feeling
After an active day in the mountains, the spa and wellness center of Hotel Kaiserblick is a perfect place to relax. Here there is a quiet and relaxing atmosphere where body and mind can relax with a view of the beautiful alpine nature.

The spa department offers several saunas, including a classic Finnish sauna and a steam sauna, as well as comfortable relaxation areas where you can relax between sauna baths. For those who want to relax further, massages and treatments are available (bookable on site, subject to availability).
The stylish environment, inspired by natural materials such as wood and stone, creates a harmonious feeling that is appreciated by many Swedish guests. The spa is a appreciated amenity, both after skiing in winter and after hiking or cycling in summer.
The Hotel Kaiserblick’s spa area is a place of rest and recovery – perfect for those who want to combine alpine experiences with well-deserved relaxation.

The restaurant
The restaurant serves well-prepared dishes using local ingredients, often with elements of both classic Alpine dishes and lighter options appreciated by Swedish guests. An extensive breakfast buffet provides a perfect start to the day. We had booked a hotel on a half board basis and ate at the hotel every night we stayed at the hotel. Every evening we came to the restaurant, they had set the table very beautifully with different types of flowers and beautiful table settings.

The menu varied every evening. A 5-course menu was always served.
With the first two starters you had to choose between different starters, often vegetarian and with meat or fish. Dish number two was often a soup. Vegetarian or with meat or fish.

As a third entree you had to go to their salad buffet and eat different types of salads, butter and bread. Every evening there were different salads. For the fourth course it was an optional main course. There was always a choice of three different main courses, often fish, meat or vegetarian.

For dessert you can also opt for a sweet dessert, for example chocolate lasagna with orange or a berry compote with vanilla panacotta. If you didn’t want a sweet dessert, you could choose to eat from their gigantic cheese buffet or from their ice cream buffet with different types of toppings and cream.

Breakfast buffet
The breakfast buffet was truly fantastic. Definitely one of the best breakfasts I’ve had. If you can have your omelet prepared immediately to your liking, there is a wide choice of different types of bread and toppings, lots of fresh vegetables and fruit and if you can squeeze your own vegetable juice and orange juice every morning, it is really great.

As icing on the cake, there was also good sparkling bubbles and good coffee if desired. As if that wasn’t enough, there was a huge selection of sweets and desserts
Every morning they have their own Das Kaiserblick newspaper with information about the weather, what’s happening in the hotel during the day, recommendations for various excursions and a presentation by someone who worked at the hotel.

Ski storage in the basement
In their basement they had a storage room where you could store your skis and boots. It was warm there too, so everything was dry and warm when you put it on for a whole day on the ski slopes.
Ski bus to the ski slope
Das Kaiserblick was about a 5 minute bus ride from the ski lift in Ellmau. Then you took the cable car up and had access to the entire ski area in SkiWelt.
We were very satisfied with the hotel Das Kaiserblick. They really had everything you could wish for for a perfect ski holiday.

Wine tasting of Austrian wines at Das Kaiserblick in Ellmau
On Friday during the week we stayed at the hotel they arranged a fantastic wine tasting of Austrian wines.
They had an incredibly good wine cellar with a huge selection of Austrian wines. It was the hotel owner himself who arranged the wine tasting. It was mainly in German, but thank goodness I studied German in school so I understood most of it. But he also translated a number of them into English. But since I was the only Swede there or spoke English, most of the information about the wines was in German.

Riedel – world-class glass
The wines were served in Riedel glasses. Founded in 1756, Riedel has been a pioneer in grape variety-specific glasses since 1958. They were the first to recognize that the taste and aroma of a drink are influenced by the shape of the glass from which it is consumed, and are recognized worldwide for their revolutionary design.
Interestingly, Riedel’s headquarters are in Kufstein, Austria, where hand-blown decanters and glasses are made by hand, which was just a few kilometers from Ellmau, where we were.
Five good wines
The first white wine was one there Weingut Artner with Grüner veltliner and chardonnay grapes. Grüner veltliner is the most widely grown grape in Austria. The most renowned wines come from the Wachau and Kamptal districts in the Lower Austria region. It was a very fresh and good wine.
The other white wine was one Sigl Grüner Veltliner Steinfeder from a producer in Wachau in Austria, also the popular grape in Austria. The third white wine was one Wohlmuth Riesling Ried Edelschuh from 2022 and maintained a high standard. The price of the wine was about 60 euros per bottle.
Then we were allowed to taste two different red wines. The first was one Robert Goudits – typical terroir wine from Lake Neusiedler.
The Robert Goldenits winery is located in Tadten, east of Lake Neusiedler in Austria. It is located on the large Heideboden vineyard, which is not a vineyard in the sense you might think at first glance. Heideboden refers to the flat vineyards that slope towards the Neusiedlersee. Robert Goldenits has set itself the goal of distinguishing itself from the crowd of wines in the region with wines that are typical of the terroir. It was a fresh and good red wine.
The last red wine was one Gager Cabernet Franc. Gager red wines come from Weingut Gager in Burgenland, Austria, and are known for their powerful cuvées that often include grapes such as Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They are often described as having notes of wild berries, cherries, spices and roasted aromas, with a fruity core and an elegant tannin structure. The wine tasting was really both interesting and educational.
