‘Darling of Darley RD’ returns to the market with a price drop of $ 6 million – realestate.com.au

The Grand Randwick house of retired Publican Robart Richards and his wife Mary Lou have returned to the market with a considerably more attractive price guide than 18 months ago.

But the house with seven bedrooms with a view of Centennial Park at 87-89 Darley RD is still expected to break the suburb of $ 14.35 million, which takes place in 2023.

Last year Kate Smith and director Elliott Placks from Ray White Double Bay had a $ 20 million guide for the incredible house on a block of 1,349 m², known as “The Darling of Darley RD”.

The building was officially known as “Swan Isle”, built for a army colonel in 1906 who left his soldiers from the front Paradeen as he took the greeting on the balcony, in full military dress of red and golden braid.

But in the last 24 years it has been the home of the Richards family who bought it for $ 2.02 million in 2000.

The first owner, Colonel William Farrell, lived in the large house with the Castellated Towers with his wife, Francis, and their five children, Charles, William, Fanny, Charlotte and Louise.

It was used by St Judes Anglican Church, Randwick, for monthly services while the family continued to live there and after the death of their parents the daughters remained until 1945.

The huge house was empty until 1954 when it was converted into a private hotel and returned to a private home in 1960.
