Former two-division UFC champion Jon Jones hit a major speed bump in his quest for a potential comeback fight later this year. In a leaked conversation with two fans at a Dirty Boxing event in Houston, Jones revealed that he has severe hip arthritis that is hindering a possible return to fighting.
Jones later downplayed his arthritis in follow-up comments on social media, criticizing one of the fans for secretly filming their conversation. Jones is looking to return to the Octagon later this year at the upcoming White House event, possibly against Alex Pereira.
But Daniel Cormier, Jones’ longtime adversary, believes Jones knew exactly what he was doing to expose his current ailments.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Cormier weighed in on Jones’ recent comments about his future.
“I have a little problem with this [Jon’s comments]Cormier began.
“It’s very easy to see if you’re being recorded with the Meta Glasses. Hard to hide the fact that you’re being recorded with the Meta Glasses, when you’re near the person… how could he have missed that? It’s hard to be oblivious in situations like that, when you’ve been in the public eye for a lifetime. When you’ve been in the public eye, you build up this sixth sense to determine when people are recording you.
“I think Jon Jones knew what he was doing, and he wanted people to know he was hurt,” Cormier continued about Jones. “And I believe he is injured – and that was the video that made me believe that Jon Jones has nothing left.”
Cormier and Jones briefly teased a possible trilogy showdown in boxing or wrestling, but those plans appear to be shelved for now. Meanwhile, Jones’ future battle plans remain cloudy.
