Former UFC doubles champion Daniel Cormier has listed the names of three current champions who “DC” believes could potentially fight for three UFC titles.
The first name on Cormier’s list is Ilia Topuria. Topuria has already achieved glory in the 2 division. He is a former UFC Featherweight Champion and the current UFC Lightweight Champion. “El Matador” has already shown interest in moving up the ranks and fighting for a third title.
Fans expect Topuria to battle 170-pound champion Islam Makhachev next year, if the former gets past interim title holder Justin Gaethje this year.
The second name on the “DCs” list is Alex Pereira. Rumor has it that “Poatan,” a former UFC middleweight champion and current and two-time light heavyweight titleholder, will soon fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Even UFC head Dana White has supported Pereira’s plan to move up to 265 pounds.
The third and final name on Daniel Cormier’s list is UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev. “Borz” is looking to move up the ranks and become the first to capture the light heavyweight title and has also expressed interest in fighting for the UFC heavyweight championship. Currently, however, White wants Chimaev to defend his 185-pound belt first before considering a move.
Daniel Cormier Says Alex Pereira, Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev Can Fight for Three UFC Titles
In one recent YouTube video on his channelDaniel Cormier said this about Ilia Topuria, Khamzat Chimaev and Alex Pereira:
‘I think Ilia [Topuria] has the opportunity to fight for three belts. I think [Alex] Pereira has the ability to fight for three belts, I think [Khamzat] Chimaev has the ability to compete at a very high level in three weight classes.”
Cormier praised “Borz,” adding:
“He [Khamzat] He didn’t fight for the title at 170, but he is the champion at 185, and I believe if he goes to 205, with the state of the division and the fighters there, he could be a real problem for guys in that weight class. It’s an exciting time to be Team Khamzat Chimaev because this guy seems to have the world at his fingertips.”
