Daniel Cormier indicates that Arman Tsarukyan is silent about the title shot for a reason: “They tell him something”

Daniel Cormier thinks Arman Tsarukyan is aware of something, which is why he isn’t being vocal about his title shot.

Ahalkalakets, who has been the number one UFC lightweight prospect for more than a year now, got his first shot at UFC gold last year against then-155-pound champion Islam Makhachev. However, Tsarukyan withdrew from the high-stakes rematch at the last minute due to a back injury. This withdrawal has left the Armenian struggling to secure a second undisputed title opportunity.

After the withdrawal, Arman Tsarukyan served as the backup for the UFC 317 title fight. He also defeated Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar in what many thought was a title eliminator fight. However, champion Ilia Topuria went on hiatus and the promotion announced an interim title fight between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett, which will headline UFC 324.

‘Ahalkalakets’ was initially upset after not getting the title he wanted in early 2026. He called the UFC and ‘El Matador’ several times on social media. However, in a recent interview, he admitted that even before his UFC Qatar fight, he knew Pimblett would get the next title shot. The 29-year-old also said the promotion knows what’s best for the company, and he should wait for his opportunity.

Pimblett vs. Topuria is a bigger fight to sell due to the bitter feud between the two over the years, and UFC’s recent flurry of matchmaking suggests that, as they look to make numbers, they want ‘The Baddy’ to beat Gaethje at UFC 324 and then unify the titles with ‘El Matador’. In the meantime, Tsarukyan will have to wait for a title shot.

Recently, Chael Sonnen expressed his confidence by stating that Arman Tsarukyan’s next fight will be for the title, and that he is not being treated unfairly by the UFC, as Jon Anik, among others, recently suggested. Now Daniel Cormier has addressed the same subject.

‘DC’ Claims Arman Tsarukyan Knows Something and That’s Why He’s Not Angry Despite Being Denied a Title Shot

Daniel Cormier’s comments suggest that Tsarukyan must have had a behind-the-scenes deal with the UFC that allowed him to accept not getting a chance to fight for the title. That’s why ‘Ahalkalakets’ hasn’t raged despite being denied a title shot. ‘DC’ told Red Corner MMA:

“I don’t know why Arman isn’t fighting for the title. I heard the reason because of what happened in Los Angeles. I thought that by acting as a backup fighter when Ilia fought Charles and then fighting Dan Hooker, it would be okay. I don’t know what conversations they’re having behind closed doors because they’re telling him something that makes him okay with it. Because if he wasn’t okay with it, he would be more vocal about not getting his chance.”
