This is because Paul was initially scheduled to lock horns with Gervonta Davis, but ‘Tank’ would subsequently withdraw from the match due to legal issues that continue to cloud his achievements in the sport.
But in a recent video, Daniel Cormier explained why Paul would be wise to avoid a clash with Ngannou.

“I’m telling you, Jake Paul doesn’t want that trouble because I don’t care if you’re a boxer. I’ve seen Francis take down Tyson Fury. Sure, Anthony Joshua beat him, but even if Jake got the power, I don’t think he has the power to handle Francis. It just takes one to land and he’ll put you out.”
“If you play stupid games, you get stupid prizes,” Cormier said. “The stupid prize will be fighting Francis Ngannou. I don’t care how much money Jake Paul would make.
