New York, NY – Dillon Danis was in the middle of another brawl at UFC 322 and was escorted out of Madison Square Garden just as the event’s main card got underway.
Danis was seen working together with Abubakar Nurmagomedov; Surprisingly, UFC CEO and President Dana White blames herself for what happened.
Speaking to media outlets, including Cageside Press, after the fight, White revealed that he had been tipped off that Danis could be a problem before the brawl took place.
“I actually blame myself for that. They told me about that right before I walked out for the main card, that Dillon Danis was here and he was moving around sitting in the fighter’s seats, not sitting in his own seat that he had,” White said. “He had a ticket.”
White was asked by security before the brawl if he wanted them to throw Danis out. “I said, ‘Does he have a card?’ and they said ‘yes.’ They told me ‘[Jorge] Masvidal said he would kick his ass right away. ”
However, with Danis six rows away from Masvidal, White didn’t see too much cause for concern and simply asked his staff to keep an eye on Danis.
“It didn’t even occur to me, as stupid as this may be, that the entire Muslim Brotherhood was sitting here tonight in the first five rows for Islam. [Makhachev]. And as soon as it broke out, I was on the other side and going ‘f*ck.’ I know exactly what that is.’ And I knew it.”
Lesson learned. Dana White followed with a promise. “You will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight again.”
Danis, who is undefeated in MMA and wears a belt under the Misfits banner, has claimed that the UFC will not sign him because he is causing a lot of problems. “That and many more reasons,” White scoffed. “You’ll never see him at another fight again.”
However, White was considerate enough not to have Danis charged. When asked after Danis was taken into custody, “I said ‘no,'” White revealed. “We don’t want to press charges. This is the fight. You know how I feel about this shit. And I could have prevented this tonight, and I blew it.”
However, that doesn’t mean Dillon Danis is out of hot water. “We’re not pressing charges. I’m not speaking on behalf of MSG or anyone else who was involved.”
