The ongoing debate between MMA and boxers continues to take combat sports fans by storm.
UFC star Joaquin Buckley and Boxing superstar Terence Crawford recently exchanged comments on social media about their combat sport superiority. Crawford dismissed MMA as a less technical sport compared to boxing during a recent meeting with Shakur Stevenson on Adin Ross’ stream.
This prompted a fiery response from Buckley, who threatened to “kill” Crawford and/or Stevenson if they got into a street fight. Buckley is considered one of the UFC’s most dangerous knockout artists.
The ongoing feud between Buckley, Crawford and Stevenson has reignited the boxing vs. MMA debate among combat sports fans. For UFC CEO Dana White, who launched his latest boxing escapade this year, the debate is funny.
Dana White: ‘Not excited’ about Joaquin Buckley and Terence Crawford feud
At one Zuffa Boxing post-fight press conferenceWhite was asked about the recent back-and-forth between Buckley, Crawford and Stevenson.
“Terence Crawford and who? UFC Buckley? Boxing?” White said of the feud between Buckley and Crawford.
“Are we still talking about it? Well, I didn’t know about it and I’m not happy that you told me about it, yeah, everyone knows how I feel about that.
“Crawford and Buckley boxing or Crawford who just made $55 million street fighting Buckley?” (h/t Bloody elbow)
Buckley hasn’t fought since a loss to former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC Atlanta last year. Meanwhile, Crawford announced his boxing retirement in recent months following a win over Canelo Alvarez.
The debate over boxing and MMA rages on. As White alluded to in his comments above, the UFC kingpin wants nothing to do with the ongoing dialogue between two of his biggest business ventures.
