Forward, Sam Dalby left Wrexham to join Bolton Wanderers to a free transfer.
This season Dalby spent loan at Dundee United of Scottish Premiership, where he scored 15 goals and two assists when the Tangerines finished in the top flight of Scotland to qualify for the UEFA Conference League of next season.
The 25-year-old, however, will not be part of the team next season, despite leaving Wrexham on a free transfer, because instead he decided to join Bolton for his first right full campaign in League One-Nadat, he had only made one performance this season, because Wrexham eventually won promotion to the championship.
Dalby, however, was part of Wrexham’s back-to-back promotion-winning team that reached successive promotions from National League and League Two.
Dalby is ‘absolutely happy’ to join Bolton, whom he described as ‘a simple decision’ after discussion with manager – Steven Schumacher.
“The ambition here is clear and the way in which the team progresses is something that I really wanted to be part of. I had a very positive season last year and I would like to carry that momentum ahead, contribute to goals and help the team to achieve our goals.
“Choosing Bolton Wanderers feels like the right move for my career, especially with the direction of the club. I can’t wait to get to the field and perform for our fans.”
Schumacher added that he is “very happy” to sign Dalby after the impressive season of the attacker in Scotland, with Dalby who wants to buy in his and sporting director of Fergal Harkin.
“Sam’s versions in Scotland last season spoke volumes about his possibilities. Crucial is that he really bought the Vision Fergal and I am building here at Bolton Wanderers.
“He gives us a different offensive profile with his physical presence and his eye for goal. At the age of 25 he is at an excellent age, with his best years for him, and we are pleased to work with him and help him to develop further.”
Schumacher continued to explain that he had been looking for a player who could add another dynamic to our front line, and Sam fits perfectly with that requirement.
“I am convinced that he has the mentality and the quality of making a real positive contribution, and I am sure our supporters would like to see him play.”
Dalby’s contract will be official effect on 1 July 2025 as soon as his contract with Wrexham ends on 30 June.
