Designed by Curley, with input from couples, the bunker plan was running to modernize subtle adjustments to modernize aesthetics, improve strategic game and meet the requirements of modern game.

“Over the years, the course has completed small and large adjustments, including land acquisition, to guarantee a core golf experience without surrounding housing, a rarity in the Coachella valley,” Curley said. “With this new work, Fred and I believe that the course is aware of peak quality and is well positioned as one of the best pure golf experiences in the country.”

The Bunkers: Improved playability, strategy and aesthetics

During the project, which started on 15 June, Curley worked closely with Labar Golf Renovations to shape bunkers that reflect the architectural flavors of today, while retaining the integrity of the original design of the club and a challenge that is suitable for members. Drainage in all bunkering has been upgraded, together with the addition of Billy Bunker -Voerings. Some bunkers have also been moved to defend better against today’s equipment.

The most important course change has come in the Par-4 14th Hole, which has been adapted to breathe new life into its original strategic challenge and aesthetics. These changes include the removal of palm trees to give a better view of the fairway, green and distant mountains, together with the addition of two carriers on the left side of the Fairway. Curley and couples both find that these adjustments improve the playability and visual attraction of the gap.

The work of the Plantation Club comes in the midst of a busy time for Curley, whose company, Curley-Wagner Design, has projects in various phases of completion in southern California, Nevada, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
