Wharton is on the radar of several top Premier League teams, including Manchester United and Liverpool who have been impressed by his performances at Selhurst Park.
The 21-year-old signed a contract until 2029 when he joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers, but the Eagles are keen to reward the player’s development with a new deal.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that talks are underway as Palace look to secure the midfielder’s long-term future.
It is believed the discussions involve the inclusion of a release clause, which would allow Wharton to escape if a suitable – and significant – offer is made.
Wharton helped Palace to FA Cup success last season, the club’s first ever major trophy. He has been named in the England squad for the international matches against Serbia and Albania in November, where he will look to add to his only cap and secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
