Crystal Palace officially confirms that Marc Guehi should be sold this transfer window

Marc Guehi will leave Crystal Palace this summer, the South London club has now publicly admitted.

Palace chairman Steve Parish says that unless the defender of England signs a contract extension, the club will be forced to sell.

When you consider that Crystal Palace is trying in vain to have a new deal signed for more than two years now, that is certainly the same as he will certainly leave.

BBC Sport State (see below) that Marc Guehi would like to complete the last ten and a half months of his palace contract and then pick the enormous personal financial benefits of departure as a free agent.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace now publicly admits that they cannot let things go further and without the tens of millions a sale now generate.

Steve Parish also repeated what he said (see below) in September 2024, when he admitted that he had expected Marc Guehi to be sold when Newcastle United tried to buy the defender, only for the sale of Joachim Andersen (and an injury to one of their defensive summer 2024 -Signing sessions) would make it impossible.

Because Marc Guehi has now led Crystal Palace to both FA Cup and Charity Shield triumphs, it seems like a very good time for Guehi to leave a high.

Newcastle United is currently signing the German international central defender Malick Thiaw, with his medical that will take place today. So whether there will still be interest from Newcastle in Guehi can still be seen.

Marc Guehi is comfortable left or right of the middle of a rear four, while in the victory of Sunday at Liverpool he played three on the left side of a back.

Fabian Schar and then Burn will both be 34 during the coming season, so for me, if Marc Guehi is ready to come, it would be completely logical for Eddie Howe to sign the English player now, especially if a much lower price than United was willing to pay last summer.

BBC Sport report – August 11, 2025:

Crystal Palace -chairman Steve Parish says that the club will sell captain Marc Guehi this summer to prevent him from losing him for free at the end of his contract.

The Eagles rejected offers for defender Guehi from Newcastle United in January – of which the last £ 65 million was worth – in the hope that the defender would sign a new deal in South London.

But the English international has now started the last 12 months of his deal in Selhurst Park and does not seem closer to extending his contract.

Van Guehi is said to stay open to the club until 2026, after which he can leave on a free transfer.

But Parish says that this summer the club would be reluctantly preferred to Guehi.

“Of course we should do that,” said Parish.

“For players of that caliber to leave for free, it is unfortunately a problem for us.

“Joachim [Andersen] went [to Fulham last summer] And we couldn’t afford to lose both.

“We still had an offer then [for Guehi] In January, but that was a different situation.

“We will just have to see what is happening. But you know, it needs a new contract or a kind of conclusion.”

Crystal Palace – President Steve Paris explained the succession of events and why it is ultimately ‘impossible’ for the South London Club to sell Marc Guehi to Newcastle United in the last days of the Summer’s Summer Summer – 4 September 2025

‘I don’t think [summer 2024] Transfer -window worked exactly in the same format that we thought it would …

“Maybe we thought in the beginning, it would be more likely that Marc Guehi went and we kept Joachim Andersen.

“We accepted that offer for Joachim Andersen, which then made it very difficult to sell both of our starting center backs in one transfer window.

“That does not mean that it was still not an external possibility that we reached the right number, but then Chadi Riad was injured.

“That doesn’t look as bad as it seems, but it still left us very light and made it really impossible to consider [towards the end of the transfer window]. “
