Glasner has informed the club of his intention to leave Selhurst Park when his contract expires in the summer.
The Austrian has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with recent sales and recruitments, but clear talks have led to Glasner remaining at Palace until the end of the current season.
The search is now underway for a successor and Lampard is emerging as an option: repotting talkSPORT. The 47-year-old has rebuilt his reputation at Coventry after challenging spells at Chelsea and Everton.
Last season he led the Sky Blues from 17th place to the second-tier play-offs after his appointment in November.
Coventry have built on that progress and lead the Championship this season, eight points ahead of nearest challengers Ipswich. Coventry is aiming for promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2001.
Chairman Steve Parish is considered a ‘great admirer’ of Lampard, although alternatives being considered include Rayo Vallecano’s Iñigo Pérez and Getafe’s Pepe Bordalás.
