Crocs and Sapphires teams locked down ahead of 2026 World Cup campaigns

Basketball Australia has confirmed the squad lists for Camp 1 of the men’s and women’s under-17 national programme, with athletes selected to attend the first national camps of the year next month.

The Under-17 Men’s Camp 1 will be held from March 8 to 11, followed by the Under-17 Women’s Camp 1 from March 15 to 18. This will provide athletes with the first opportunity this year to train in the national performance environment as preparations begin for the upcoming World Cup campaigns later in 2026.

The women’s under-17 program enters Camp 1 with strong international momentum after claiming gold at the FIBA Under-16 Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia last September, where they booked their tickets for the FIBA Under-17 Women’s Basketball World Cup, to be held in the Czech Republic from July 11 to 19. The official draw will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026 in the Domini Park in Brno.

The Under-17 men’s program will use its March camp as a key lead-up to the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup, to be held in Türkiye from June 27 to July 5, after securing World Cup qualification at last year’s FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Australia is included in Group D together with Venezuela, Serbia and Ivory Coast.
