Sanjay Manjrekar launches attack on Shubman Gill

Former India National Cricket Team batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has launched an attack on star batsman Shubman Gill after his dismissal from the Indian T20I team.
Shubman Gill was recently dropped from the Indian T20I squad despite being vice-captain, and Axar Patel was named Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Gill’s axing came after his dreadful run in T20I cricket since his return to the format. Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar made an indirect comment about Gill in a social media post discussing his exclusion. He stated:
“He doesn’t have a single 50 in 20 innings. A statistic often cited to suggest a loss of form. T20s are and always will be about strike rates. The last thing you want is a batsman who is out of form and plays cautiously when he gets close to 50. This will lose you the game.”
