Corey Seager to undergo appendectomy, not excluded for the season

Rangers Shortstop Corey Seager has Appendicitis and will undergo a appendectomy. President of baseball operations Chris Young passed on the news to reporters, including Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning NewsSaying that Seaver will “be a period of time” but is not excluded all year round. According to Jeff Wilson van DLLS Sports, Infrielder Dylan Moore is added to the Roster with Outfielder Evan Carter to the 60-day wounded list to open a 40-man space.

Although Seaver is not entirely excluded for the season, it is clearly a rough blow. Seager is the best player in the team. Despite missing some time because of hamstring tribes and only playing in 102 games, he has delivered four victories over replacement, in the eyes of Fangraphs. He has 21 home runs, a walking speed of 13%, 19.6% strikeout percentage, .271/.373/.487 Slaglijn, 137 WRC+ and excellent figures for his short stop defense.

No club ever wants to lose its best player to an injury, but the Rangers are in a particularly precarious place. They already float around .500 for most of the year, which currently have a record of 68-67. That brings them back 4.5 games from a play -off place with another month to go.

They are not completely eliminated, but they have taken a few large punches lately. In the past month they lost Seaver, Carter, Marcus Semien, Nathan Eovaldi, Jake Burger, Sam Haggerty, Chris Martin, Jon Gray and Cole Winn on the injured list. Carter recently suffered a wrist fracture and this transfer means that he is not eligible to return for mid -October. Semien’s foot injury will cost him four to six weeks. Eovaldi’s Rotatormanchetstam is probably seasonal.

The club still has the chance to incur a late costs for a postseason spot, but this without so many important contributors will be difficult. There is now also a ticking clock due to some detailed MLB rules. This year, the Rangers tried to avoid the competing balance tax, but reportedly just crossed the line when making upgrades to the schedule prior to the Trade Deadline. They could sneak back under the tax line if a few players are claimed of exemptions. However, a player would only be eligible for the late season with a new club if it is claimed before 1 September. Since distance declarations are a 48 -hour process, the Rangers players should put the thread on the next 24 hours, otherwise they would suddenly be less attractive for other teams.

Merrill Kelly, Tyler Mahle, Danny Coulombe, Hoby Milner, Phil Maton, Shawn Armstrong and Patrick Corbin are all approaching free agents. They therefore have no value for the Rangers after this year. If the club decides to pedal at 2025, they can place some or all remotely. It is unlikely that they are all claimed, but Kelly would certainly do that and a few others would probably do that too. Adolis Garcia can be stored before 2026, but is a more tender candidate and can also be useful for the thread.

Time will learn whether Seaver’s injury encourages them to make that daring decision. For the time being, Josh Smith will probably income for Seaver at Shortstop, per Wilson. That will leave playing time in second place, which will be taken by a combination of Ezequiel Durán, Cody Freeman and Moore.

Moore and the Rangers signed a Minor League deal just a few days ago after he was released by the Mariners. He has a terrible season, which gave rise to that release. He has a .193/.263/.359 battle line and 35.7% strikeout percentage.

He has been better than that in the past. He arrived the year with a career .206/.316/.384 line and 102 WRC+, despite the fact that he was beaten in 29.8% of his plate performances. He had 104 stolen bases and had played every position except catcher.

Although he has not been good this year, he is essentially free for the Rangers. Because the Mariners have released him, they remain on the hook for most of his salary. The Rangers only have to pay him the deducted part of the minimum salary of the competition for every moment he spends on their selection. That amount is deducted from what the Mariners pay.
