Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg is still dealing with a left midfoot sprain and missed his sixth straight game Friday due to the injury.

The former No. 1 overall pick is expected to remain out for at least two more games, according to Grant Afseth of the Dallas Hoops Journal.

“Probably not that he’ll play,” head coach Jason Kidd said when asked about Flagg’s availability for Tuesday’s road game at Charlotte.

Dallas hosts Oklahoma City on Sunday before beginning a six-game road trip that starts against the Hornets.

Flagg’s main Rookie of the Year rival is Charlotte wing Kon Knueppel, his former Duke teammate and roommate.

Afseth notes that the Mavericks initially expected Flagg to return after the All-Star break, but he has not played since suffering the injury on Feb. 10, which was confirmed by MRI.

There is speculation around the league that Dallas could shut Flagg down for the remainder of the season to protect his long-term health and improve draft position.

The team has not publicly discussed these rumors and Kidd has not indicated that such a move is being considered.

In 49 games this season (34.1 MPG), Flagg is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting .482/.302/.804.
