Antonio Conte stressed that Napoli cannot feel sorry for ourselves during the injury crisis as they continue to look for solutions.

Napoli are currently eight games unbeaten in all competitions and ended a run of three consecutive draws with their narrow 1-0 Serie A victory over Sassuolo on Saturday.

However, that victory came at a price: Matteo Politano and Amir Rrahmani added to their already long injury list.

David Neres, Frank Anguissa and Kevin De Bruyne were already on the sidelines, while Romelu Lukaku is still unable to play as he recovers from a long-term injury.

But Conte is confident Napoli can continue to find a way to win when they take on Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

“We try to focus on who is there, we always try to find solutions,” Conte told reporters.

“We’ve been doing it the last few days, trying to prepare for this game, and I hope we can bring that to the field.

“It is inevitable that we have to change a bit: we lost both Politano and Rrahmani in the last match. Neres also still has that ankle problem that we have not been able to solve.”

“We have to find solutions without feeling sorry for ourselves. When the unthinkable happens, it becomes difficult, but I have faith.”

Napoli are currently 23rd in the Champions League with seven points and are at risk of dropping out of the play-off places, with just one point separating them from Benfica.

The Partenopei have never played Copenhagen before, but they have won all four of their previous matches against Danish opposition in European competitions.

Napoli have lost each of their last five away games in the Champions League, conceding at least two goals in each defeat (17 in total), while Copenhagen are aiming to win three consecutive games in the same edition of the tournament for the first time.

“Making assessments about the opponent seems pointless to me,” Conte added.

“We’re so focused on ourselves that we haven’t thought about that. We’ve had a big run and are playing every three days. I think this is our fourth game in nine days.”

“That’s absurd. Those who set the schedule must understand that footballers are exposed to extreme physical and mental stress.

“So we are focused on ourselves and trying to do our best. We know we will be playing against an excellent team, a team that is very well prepared physically and tactically.”

“It will be a beautiful stadium, our fans will come and we are happy with that. They will give us a big hand to do something special.”

Scott McTominay (three) and Rasmus Hojlund (two) are the only two Napoli players to have scored in the Champions League this season.

“I can only speak positively about Rasmus,” Conte said of the Dane. “He’s a fantastic guy, he’s only 22 years old, but in my opinion he still has a lot of room for improvement.

“In just four or five months he has grown a lot both tactically and physically. He understands when to attack space, the way to position himself with the ball.”

“He is a very important player for us. I think he can become even stronger in the future.”
