Dana White discussed all things UFC and of course Conor McGregor came up. Speaking to Complex, when asked if McGregor’s opponent (for his return) would be the much-discussed Michael Chandler.
White shut down that potential fight, saying:
“No, that was a few years ago. No.”
So we ask the question: If Conor McGregor doesn’t fight Michael Chandler, who will he fight next?
Potential opponents of the return of the Mac
Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal
170 pounds. The infamous vs Game bread. Why not? Two fighters who are way out of their prime and have had long layoffs. Neither of them is a threat for a place in the rankings, but two big names. Despite a combined record of 1-7 in their last eight together, it’s still a very competitive fight.
The fight sells itself, but the return of two megastars tips the scales in Masvidal’s favor. With two headline slots for fight night, supported by four PPV fights, Masvidal is a guaranteed star.

Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 3
Like the Masvidal fight, Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 3 makes a lot of sense. The trilogy fight sells itself, just like the Masvidal fight.
Diaz is a fan favorite and it’s worth noting that he’s coming off a win…albeit against Tony Ferguson on a day’s notice.
The two had one of the most intense rivalries in UFC history. Diaz was the man who took the Irishman’s undefeated UFC record and made waves at UFC 196. Naturally, the two men reunited again and this time McGregor narrowly got the nod in a timeless classic at UFC 202.

As we all know it’s 1-1. Sell the trilogy fight. Bitter rivals settle the score on the White House lawn.
They wouldn’t do that, right?
Imagine this. Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett beats Justin Gaethje next weekend at UFC 324. Gets the interim belt wrapped around his waist and calls out the undisputed champion, Ilia Topuria. Topuria, who has been struggling with issues outside the octagon, relinquishes the belt and Pimblett is upgraded to undisputed champion.
Paddy vs Conor. The Baddy vs The infamous for the lightweight championship. Again, the fight sells itself. The two men are fantastic on the microphone, both have enormous appeal in both Europe and America. Ireland vs England. Two former CageWarriors champions meet on the White House lawn…
It’s almost impossible, but we can dream.
