Conor McGregor may finally be back on the comeback road.
If McGregor’s recent social media activity needs to be believed, the former two-division champion officially re-introduced the UFC drug test protocol, which could be available for a return to action in 2026.
“The Notorious” posted a video Instagram With a caption lecture: “I gave my first blood test, that’s what the plaster is on my shoulder. I am ecstatic! I am in shape!”
He also shared images of what looked like blood and urine tests on Instagram stories, although the truthfulness of the images cannot be confirmed. According to the official UFC-Anti-Doping websiteMcGregor still has to be recorded with an official test in 2025.
McGregor, 37, recently told the Schmo that he had resumed drug tests pending fighting on a proposed UFC Witte Huiskaart, of which President Donald Trump and UFC CEO have said that both are in the works for the 250e Independence Day in July 2026. Several other hunters are interested in the Jon.
If McGregor returns to July, this marks its first fight in five years. McGregor recently fought at UFC 264 in Las Vegas, where he lost a trilogy to rival Dustin Poirier after breaking his leg in the opening round. He was actually planned to return to UFC 303 in June 2024 against Michael Chandler, but had to withdraw from that booking due to a toe injury.
McGregor, one of the biggest stars in combat history, has remained in the headlines for various reasons. He is currently a sub-owner and one of the faces of the popular BKFC promotion, has recently had to deal with a fire in his Black Forge Inn in Dublin, Ireland, and is currently the subject of a civil lawsuit accused him of sexual violence in Miami (in addition to the already liable for sexual abuse in another).
