Conor Gallagher: Man United target “not satisfied” at Atletico Madrid – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Manchester United’s need for a new midfielder is no secret, and it is entirely possible that the club could move for a new midfielder in January.

The Red Devils have been linked with a big move for a young Premier League talent like Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton or Elliot Anderson, but a player from that category is likely to arrive in the summer.

Gallagher a January option

Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher has emerged as an option for a January move, with reports last week claiming that the player himself is keen on the move.

And in an interview with the Spanish outlet IF the former Chelsea man has admitted he is “not happy” with his playing time in Madrid.

The 25-year-old has played in every game for the club this season, but has only managed 339 minutes in 12 league appearances.

He has only played more than 45 minutes once and started only twice.

Want more minutes

When asked if he was personally satisfied with the season so far, Gallagher said: “No, no, of course not. I’m not satisfied.

“I don’t think anyone does that if they don’t play as much as they would like, but I will continue to work very hard so that every time I get a chance I can help the team and hopefully more opportunities to start will come my way.”

He also hinted that he is experiencing some frustration when it comes to being able to reach his highest level, especially with the World Cup just around the corner next summer. He said: “Sometimes it’s hard to go on for a few minutes and show what I can do.

But like I said, the most important thing is to do my best for the manager and the team, and that’s what I’m trying to do now.”

“Happy” in Madrid

The newspaper pressed him on reports from England linking him with a move in January, asking whether he was considering the possibility of leaving.

Gallagher did not say a firm ‘no’, but neither did he show a burning desire to leave the club – although players rarely do so in public. He replied diplomatically: “I am very happy here. My goal is to win titles with Atleti, and I want to play a more important role in the team.”

And like I said, I’ll continue to work as hard as I can to get more playing time and help the team.”

Later in the interview, he made it clear that he has “settled very well” in Madrid, adding that “my girlfriend and I love living here. It’s an incredible city and we are very happy.”

Nevertheless, should United offer him more playing time in an exciting side that is finding its footing under Ruben Amorim, there is every chance that Gallagher will return to the Premier League.
