‘Completely at the top:’ Tour winner gets ‘shocking’ drive that is not by members T -pieces

There is no doubt that PGA Tour veteran Stephan Jaeger is an elite golfer. But at a time on Thursday at the Sanderon Farms Championship, Jaeger looked more like your 20-handicap boyfriend at a local Muni.

That is due to a hengelmoes with his driver during round 1 so bad that the TV broadcast called it ‘shocking’.

When he arrived in the Par-4 17th Hole in the opening round on Thursday, Jaeger had a sparkling bogey-free scorecard and a four-under score to show it. The early lead on the Sanderson Farms Championship was in sight.

But then something has happened that is known to all recreational golfers, but is completely unknown for tour professionals, especially tour winners.

Jaeger set up his tee -shot, withdrew his driver and unleashed his swing. But instead of making clean contact, the bottom of his driver hit the top of the ball.

As the video review shows, Jaeger’s ball first hit the ground just after the impact and then sailed just above the grass and finally came 104 meters from the Tee box.

It also seemed to be short for at least one set of members T -pieces in the Jackson Country Club.

Just after an impact, or Jaeger, his play partner or Caddy can be heard: “Have you ever seen something like that?”

“He has it at the top,” noted a TV analyst. “Completely at the top.”

“He waves this club around 120 km / h and just catches the top of that ball … shocking,” his partner replied in the stand.

Unfortunately for Jaeger, the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open winner, led his top to a bogey at the age of 17 and dropped his final score for the opening round to three.

Yet that just left him behind Four shots of the leadership On the way to round 2, with one eye on his second career victory. And in the round of Friday, Jaeger showed Nultekens that the top had negatively influenced him.

Starting on the back nine, he made three Birdies about his first five holes. On the site of his embarrassing shot from Thursday, the par-4 17th, he hit a ride of 297 meters to the right fairway, ending with a par.

He was three shots of the lead with even more gaps to play in his second round.
