After having fallen to St. Louis 2-1 on Monday evening, the Rockies will try to write down for elusive Win 31 on Tuesday. The Rockies (30-88) have now lost five times eight games in a row, including the current DIA, which started against Pittsburgh on 3 August.

After having won the three-game series on Coors Field earlier this season, the Rockies now bound the season series with the Cardinals (61-59) at 2-2 with two games in St. Louis.

Kyle Freeland (2-12, 5.53 ERA) starts for the Rockies. Freeland will make his 22nd start to the season and he comes from two rough start. The first came on July 30 when Freeland started, even though he didn’t feel so good. In a gritty version, he lasted three innings and only gave up two points in the loss. On August 6 against the Blue Jays Freeland was hit hard and struggled with his command. He stood up six points on seven hits with two free runs, two hit fittings and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Matthew Liberatore (6-9, 3.98 ERA) gets the start for St. Louis. The 25-year-old LHP is in the big competitions in his fourth year and first as a starter. In 21 Starts this season he eliminated 85 batters and led 27 in 113 innings. Liberate has not won a victory since 29 June, which is also the last time he made the fifth inning in a competition.

The weather today has been very rainy in St. Louis, and the field in Busch Stadium is perhaps pretty damp. Spilly has posted about the wet conditions, but things seem to look brighter and dryer:
