College Football Preview 2025: Michigan Wolverines

2024 Summary

Michigan experienced a National Kater Championship in the first season without Jim Harbaugh. Under new head coach Sherrone Moore, the Wolverines lost five games – more than they had combined in the previous three seasons. Yet the year was not without highlights, including disturbances about Ohio State and Alabama in the Bowl game.

The defense kept his end up and finished fifth in Pff assessment. However, the attack was a mess. Michigan cycled through three starting quarterbacks and finished the year as the fourth-strict team in the Power Four in EPA per pass. While questions are being offset, there is hope on the horizon with Bryce Underwood, the best recruit in the country and one of the highest appreciated Quarterback prospects in modern times. Greatest strength: again an excellent line of defense

Michigan has set the highest -grade line of defense of the country in each of the last two seasons. Despite the losing striking talents such as Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant and Josaiah Stewart, the Wolverines remain formidable at the front. They enter 2025 with the number 6 defensive line in the country, anchored by two top 10 players in their respective positions: defensive Tackle Rayshaun Benny and Edge Rusher derher Derrick Moore.

Biggest weakness: supporting cast on attack

Outside of Bryce Underwood there are not many clear clear places on the attack by Michigan on the way to 2025. Quarterback Spotlight: Bryce Underwood

Overview: Whether or not he starts from week 1, Bryce Underwood – the best overall recruit in the 2025 class – is the future of Michigan’s football. The Wolverines ended up by removing him from LSU, where Underwood was committed for almost a year. Seen as a potential generation talent, he could be the center of a national title run in the coming years.

Strengths: Bryce Underwood, listed on 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds and has a prototypical frame for a quarterback. He generates difficult speed with a compact, repeatable throwing movement, either from the bag or on the movement. In Michigan’s spring game, he showed the command of the fast game despite limited support for his recipients. The talent of the elite arm of Underwood is clear. Now he just needs continuous representatives in the system and a supporting cast that is able to increase his skills.

Weaknesses: The Downfield -Underwood, one was not consistent in Michigan’s spring game. Although the separation of receiver was sometimes a problem, he also made a few off-platform lashes that sailed high. He ended the game after he had only completed 12 of his 26 passes, although every spring performance had to be taken with a pinch of salt. Whether he starts in week 1 or Michigan chooses to give Fresno State Transfer Mikey Keene The first shot, each snaps that Underwood sees this season, will be invaluable for both his development and the future of the program.

Offensive player Spotlight: RB Justice Haynes

Justice Haynes served as number 2 by Alabama last season, but made the best of his limited opportunities. His 5.6 yards per Carry arranged sixth under SEC and backs with at least 75 attempts, and he placed an impressive 80.7 hasty figure. On 205 pounds, Haynes is light on his feet and could arise as a breakout star as Michigan’s lead in 2025.

Defensive Player Spotlight: S Rod Moore

Rod Moore did not see the field tearing in practice last March in 2024 after his ACL, but his previous oeuvre still deserves a place on this list.

From 2022 to 2023, Moore ranked as the second most valuable FBS security, according to the above-average metric of Pff. He placed a general figure of 85.5 and registered six interceptions over that period. Moore, a High-IQ defender, is expected to serve as the experienced leader of Michigan’s secondary in 2025.

Bottom Line

If Bryce Underwood immediately fulfills the hype, Michigan has a path back to the play -off of the University Football. But if he is struggling to raise a shaky supporting cast, the Wolverines could be for another overwhelming season.
