Cole Palmer is open to a sensational move from Man Utd

Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer is open to a ‘sensational’ move to Manchester United The sun.

The England international is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League but has played sparingly this season due to a groin injury. Despite this, he remains highly rated and has been linked with a move away from the Blues.

The sun claim Palmer is ‘unsettled’ at the Club World Cup champions and would prefer a return to Manchester. He continues to regularly visit family and friends in Wythenshawe and would welcome the prospect of joining his boyhood club, Man United.

Remember new hair

However, Palmer would not consider a move to Manchester City. The Cityzens sold him to the Blues for £42.5million in the summer of 2023 and he has no desire to return to his former employers.

Surprise move

Palmer has played a major role in the Blues’ return to Champions League football. He also played a key role in the Club World Cup success but has struggled to get regular playing time this season due to a persistent groin problem.

The 23-year-old recently missed the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with manager Liam Rosenior claiming he was not 100% fit to play. Palmer is touted to return when the Blues take on Napoli in the final Champions League fixture.

United are currently in attacking midfield. Bruno Fernandes is an undisputed starter under interim manager Michael Carrick, while Mason Mount can provide a good backup from the bench if the Portuguese has a bad day and is substituted.

However, Fernandes has a deal in place that could see him move to a foreign club this summer for £57million. If he chooses to join a new team, the Red Devils could be tempted to take an ambitious approach to signing Palmer away from the Blues.

Chelsea may view Palmer as an indispensable figure, but their position could change if he pushes for an exit. United’s director of football Jason Wilcox knows him very well, having previously worked as head of the academy during his time at Man City.

United could lay the foundations for a possible deal with Wilcox, assuming Fernandes is looking for a new challenge at the end of the season.
