Cold hard Devin Booker Truth Suns fans don’t want to hear

The Phoenix Suns made one thing loud and clear this out of season, and that is that they are planning to rebuild around Franchise Cornerstone Devin Booker. With the second best attacking player in this schedule now Jalen Green, the 28-year-old booker is again in full control over the attack. However, that is not necessarily a good thing for the future of the franchise.

Booker certainly does not want to waste any of his first years in a rebuilding – but the more you look at the selection that the Suns has collected – the more you realize that it is exactly what this is. Defensively they will get better – and this unexpected movement can help – but still not nearly near the levels needed to insist on a play -off place in the Western Conference.

Booker’s ceiling as a playmaker limits their potential to improve.

With the NBA season closer, Kevin O’Connor took to his podcast on the Yahoo! Sport Channel recently and had content maker Legend of winning for the ride. They broke out the Pacific conference – and although both fans were of the three draws of the Suns this season – they were much less enthusiastic about booker that was re -used as Point Guard.

As the couple sees it – and they are not wrong – Booker like the primary maker lays a ceiling about how good this team can be, and it is because he is better as a secondary maker next to a real floor general. We have already seen the best version of this in the past and it led to a run to the NBA final when Chris Paul was in the city.

But if the Suns are adamant, Booker will have the ball in his hands again – and it is perhaps a better alternative to Green – then get ready to see this team struggling. Fans like to point out what seems obvious to them when it comes to making selection and minutes, and it is not as if Booker will bump into the roll. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don’t know.

But expect a first year head coach in Jordan Ott to give booker the ball to create for everyone, it seems like a recipe for a disaster. It could cost him his work before he ever got the chance to grow with this schedule. About the only positive thing you can see here, the fact Booker in the past two seasons is on average the most assists per game in his career on average.

But that was partly out of necessity in 2023-24 when there was no Point Guard and Bradley Beal was injured half the time, and last season was because Tyus Jones struggled and Kevin Durant still needed the ball in his places. The distribution of dimes at a fast pace is not the same as success, and the suns stand for a rude awake if this is their plan for booker because it will stunt their growth.
