Franco Colapinto was rated in the medical center and described as “OK” by his Alpine team after a crash during tire tests at Hungaroring.
Pirelli ran two days after the Hungarian Grand Prix -weekend, with Alpine one of the four teams involved, including McLaren, Ferrari and Racing Bulls. Colapinto rode in the morning on the second day of the test and had handed it to teammate Pierre Gasly for the afternoon session, but a serious crash at turn 11-one right-handed of 140 MPH-Stop temporarily the procedure.
A spectators photo from Budapest showed the car in the wrong direction next to the barrier in the drainage area, with the right side considerably damaged.
Colapinto has started seven races for Alpine this year – with a technical issue at Silverstone that prevents him from doing this – since the replacement of Jack Doohan six rounds in the season. Both drivers have not succeeded in scoring a point at this phase, the only two who have not achieved a top ten result in 2025 so far.
Teams participating in the Pirelli program used test mules adapted to the sizes of the tire dimensions of 2026, which are 25 mm narrower on the front and 30 mm narrower at the back. Pirelli reported that the first day of the test had seen prototypes of the used C3, C4 and C5 connections of next year.
Alpine was planned for the only team to complete both days of the test, with Paul Aron riding on Tuesday. Lando Norris and Liam Lawson had been in action for McLaren and Racing Bulls on the opening day respectively, while on Wednesday Charles Leclerc also rode while Ferrari rode the test in the test together with Alpine.
