Cody Haddon has been forced out of his UFC 322 bout due to injury and Ethyn Ewing will step in on short notice to take on Malcolm Wellmaker this Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The fight will now be contested at featherweight.
The UFC announced this on Thursday.
Ewing (8-2) enters his UFC debut on an eight-fight win streak, having last competed in a title fight under Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat banner less than a week ago. Of his eight wins, seven have come by knockout, with his lone decision victory completing an impressive resume.
Haddon was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury, although details have not yet been announced. The Australian bantamweight earned his UFC contract during Dana White’s Contender Series Week 2 in 2024 and made his official debut just two months later, scoring a decision victory over Dan Argueta.
Wellmaker (10-0) will look to keep his perfect record intact against Ewing. The undefeated bantamweight has notable victories over Kris Moutinho, Cameron Saaiman and Adam Bramhald.
