Instead of building on last week’s sweep of Merrimack, it was two steps forward and one big step back for the Terriers, who were dominated by Quinnipiac in a 6-2 loss at M&T Bank Rink.

On the 104th anniversary of the agreement Since collegiate hockey would be played with six on each side, it often seemed like there were seven Bobcats harassing the Terriers.

Coach Jay Parolfowho saw his team score 49 to 33 and at the end of the draw 36 to 21, did not hold back: “Pathetic, embarrassing. That is one of the worst matches I have ever participated in.

“Give them credit, they’re a very good team, very well coached,” Pandolfo said. “We are a very poorly coached team based on what I just saw.

“That’s on me for not holding our guys accountable, not playing to a certain standard. Don’t block a shot, don’t cover anyone in front of our net, just let the team skate around us. Some of it has to be attributed to the way I coach these guys,” he added.

For all intents and purposes, the game was over after the first period, in which the Bobcats scored three unanswered goals while keeping the Terriers on the side of the ice. A few minutes in the offensive zone at the end of the period yielded no goals as Quinnipiac held a 25-8 lead.

Four goals — two for each team — came in the span of 2:17 in the middle period. First,
Jack Harvey scored a short-hander, completing a 2-on-1 rush Cole Hutson. It was the junior’s fourth goal.

That was immediately negated by Antonin Verréault‘s count of the same power play. Another power play goal, through Ethan Wyttenbachfollowed a minute later for a 5-1 Bobcat lead.

Then an innocent-looking point shot out from it Nick Roukounakis found its way past the goalkeeper Matej Marinov
for the sophomore’s first goal as a Terrier. Aiden Celebrini And Charlie Trethewey had the assists.

BU hit 17 of 33 shots in the third period, but couldn’t beat Marinov despite three power plays in the period. Another Bobcat tally closed the scoring.

The Terrier’s power play was completely ineffective with only three shots on target in six man advantages. QU was two of five on power plays.
