Through Well, Abdur-Rahman

The fight will go on as planned despite the weigh-in fight.
Claressa Shields and Franchon Crews-Dezurn already had a brawl ahead of the highly anticipated rematch
A brawl broke out between their camps during the Feb. 21 weigh-in prior to their match at Little Caesars Arena. The fight is expected to take place on February 22.
As both sides tried to assert their weight to move forward with the fight, tensions reached a peak during the traditional showdown. The women then became physical with the gloves off. The shadow room showed some released clips of the ordeal.
Crews-Dezurn literally collided with Shields, prompting the heavyweight champion to shove her in response. However, other members from both women’s camps caused even more chaos. The fight beforehand intensified when a security guard jumped on stage to stop Crew-Dezurn, causing her husband to jump in to prevent the security guard from detaining her.
Others started jumping in, leaving one of the competition’s stars injured in the ordeal. After things cooled down on the main stage, another mini-fight ensued backstage, leaving Crews-Dezurn in the middle of the action. While Shields broke away from the scuffle after her initial contact, Crews-Dezurn reportedly suffered from a rolled ankle and swollen knee.
The injuries left many wondering whether or not Sunday’s fight would happen. Shields also shared her thoughts on the matter, claiming that Crews-Dezurn tried to stop the fight out of fear. Shields also broke down her account of what happened and denied claims she caused the altercation.
And let’s be clear! Boxers argue with each other at weigh-ins all the time! To make it look like a setup is crazy! Three things happened yesterday when we faced each other
1. FRANCHON Edge of her 🧢 hit me in the head first,
2. She took off the hat and put our foreheads on each…— Claressa Gwoat Shields (@Claressashields) February 22, 2026
“And let’s be clear,” Shields asserted. “Boxers argue with each other at weigh-ins all the time! It’s crazy to make it look like a setup!”
However, Crews-Dezurn matched Shield’s Twitter fingers and called the boxer a liar. The two started a verbal argument online about what led to the brawl.
“Dad sent” Dad didn’t do anything! No one attacked anyone from your side. Did you know that the video shows your gang member hitting one of Wynn’s people from behind? Initiating a whole brawl. Girl. You crazy. Me & Dad & all my olives 🫒 stayed in the same place the whole time. https://t.co/pz7I59dC2q

Despite Crews-Dezurn’s injuries and their ongoing online issues, Shields confirmed the fight would go ahead. Now, amid the growing media circus, perhaps more eyes will turn to how the women battle it out in the ring.
