Glasgow Clan recorded their first win in almost a month as they snapped a losing run with victory over Fife Flyers at the Braehead Arena on Friday evening. The Flyers fought back from three down and forced overtime with a last-minute equalizer to deservedly take a point.
Glasgow got off to a perfect start and took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Deven Sideroff and Austin Mitchell-King, who scored his second EIHL goal. Clan carried the game through the opening frame, beating Fife 18-10.
“We felt like this was a game we had to win,” Clan defender Steven Seigo explained. “We’ve been in a bit of a pickle lately and so this game was a testament to what kind of group we have in the room. I like the way we came out and how we started.”
The middle period turned into a special teams battle, with Fife taking a series of penalties before Glasgow extended their lead to 3-0 after a powerplay goal from Jason Fram. The momentum then changed as the Flyers struck twice on the man advantage through Ethan Somoza, before Logan Neilson fired a one-timer past Sami Aittokallio’s short side to make it a one-goal game at 35:44.
Fife completed the comeback 1:47 into period three through former Clan forward Keaton Jameson. The match remained tied for less than four minutes until Seigo restored the Clan’s lead with just under 15 minutes to play. Neilson hit the crossbar as the Flyers almost leveled the match, while moments later Somoza almost diverted Giordano Finoro’s pass past Aittokallio.

“We had some lulls in our play there, as we have had in recent weeks,” Seigo admitted. “But we stuck together and it showed what kind of group we have to come out on top in this match.”
The Flyers finally tied the game with 52 seconds left. Jameson won an offensive zone faceoff and Josh Winquist fired the puck past Aittokallio to make it 4-4. Brady Risk almost won it for the Clan in the final seconds, but Shane Owen held on.
With the scores level after 60 minutes, the teams went to extra time, with Clan holding a 54–31 lead. Just 36 seconds into extra time, an excellent stretch pass from Seigo sent Brett Neumann in alone to beat Owen on five holes and seal victory for Glasgow.
The teams meet again in Fife on Saturday evening. “It’s another match we have to win. We will approach it the same way we did today and want to get a good result,” Seigo concluded.
