Glasgow Clan hit Scottish Rivals Fife Flyers with the strange goal in five in a tough match in Kirkcaldy, viewed by 2,002 spectators.
“We are very happy to win,” said Code Neilson of the Clan, whose team celebrated a six-point week with the victory. “We are now starting to build some momentum with the three victories this week – we really started to pick it up.”
Tristan Langan brought the visitors ahead while he walked through the flyers defense with 6:34. The Flyers leveled a faceoff at 6:28 PM when the Puck fell on Mason Alderson, who scored his very first professional goal.

FIFE took the lead on a 3-on-1 short Rush in which Johan Porsberger Josh Winquist had set up for a one-off finish 1:57 in period two. That lead lasted only 22 seconds, when Hugo Roy broke the wing and a shot rang along Christian Purboo to tie things again. A little more than nine minutes later Alex Forbes shot went all the way from the point to restore Clan.
Chris McKay was ejected for a cross control with just over two minutes to go in period two, but the home team failed to take advantage of five minutes.
“It was nice to go into the lead the third period instead of haunting the game,” Neilson added. “I think there are many positives from this game, but some things we still have to work on.”
Neilson seemed to have sewn things for the clan with 8:05 to play, but the goal was recalled after the officials ruled that the whistle had been blown before Neilson de Puck put over the line. In the end it didn’t matter, while the clan held up for the victory of one goal.
“Every time we come to FIFE, or they come to us, we know that it will be a struggle and a hard -fought game. Positive vibes for us tonight,” concluded Neilson.
