Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) operates its car factory in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, and this comes at a time when conversations about long -term wages are going on in the facility.
The Citu, which was involved in the recent Samsung strike on similar grounds, issued a strike message on 23 June stating that it has the majority and should also be part of the wage negotiations.

In the strike message, Kumar proposes two ways to arrange the dispute. “The first is to verify membership documents that have been submitted by both trade unions. If it is not decisive, you perform a secret ballot for employees to identify the majority union,” he said.
The notification also stated that core problems go further than just wage revision and an increased workload includes reduced workforce, the introduction of automation and artificial intelligence without reducing working hours, including forced overtime without negotiations.
With regard to this issue, the HMIL has said that it is a non -recognizing minority union. Instead of the current lawsuits in court, the company cannot comment on matters that are elementthe company added.

The previous three -year wage scheme at HMIL was implemented with a retrospective effect from 1 April 2021 and remained in force until 31 March 2024. The package saw a salary increase of £ 28,200 per month (in the ratio of 55 percent, 25 percent and 20 percent for a period of three years), among other things. No fewer than 2,239 technicians from the company benefited from the revised wage package, according to the 2022 agreement.
