Videos on social media show that a white person started fighting by hitting a black man, identified as Montianez Merriweather, in the face. Things escalated when another attacker took revenge by beating the man. Shortly thereafter another black man, who was a few meters away, jumped in.

It was not long before the white man was beaten in the middle of the street.
